Will dying my hair from dark brown to light brown turn orange or red?

My hair is naturally a dark brown, and i bought the john frieda medium golden brown and the natural light brown. i want to go lighter, but will my hair turn orange or red?? like streaks of that color? and i feel like if i just do medium brown there wont be a difference and i'd just be damaging my hair for no reason
